On January 11, 2021, at the southern entrance of the Hai Van Tunnel (Lien Chieu District, Da Nang City), the inauguration ceremony for the Hai Van 2 Tunnel took place – the longest and largest-scale road tunnel project in Southeast Asia. In this internationally significant project, A2Z Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company served as the construction supervision consultant (TVGS), directly acting as “gatekeeper” for the quality of all construction components.

Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung praised that the Hai Van 2 Tunnel was completed on schedule, meeting quality standards and successfully addressing numerous complex technical requirements, standing as clear evidence of the capability and determination of Vietnam’s team of engineers and officials in executing large-scale transportation infrastructure projects.
As one of the participating units, A2Z proudly collaborates with the teams on the construction site, contributing to the project’s overall success and witnessing the affirmation of Vietnamese enterprises’ capabilities in an internationally significant project. The tunnel was officially marked with a signboard commemorating the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
The Hai Van 2 tunnel, which spans 6.2 km, is part of a larger 12.4 km route that includes its approach roads. This construction commenced in April 2017 under challenging conditions, as the Hai Van 1 tunnel remained in operation. Over 37 months, the project had to overcome rugged mountainous terrain, fractured rock formations prone to landslides, and constrained working spaces, all while ensuring the absolute safety of the continuous traffic flowing through the existing tunnel.

To ensure the project’s quality and safety, A2Z deployed a 24/7 supervision team, rigorously monitoring every stage, from drilling and blasting to reinforcement. Installation of fire protection, ventilation, lighting, surveillance cameras, and water systems was closely overseen. Monitoring of blast parameters, vibrations, dust, emissions, and noise ensured to prevention of any disruption to the operation of the Hai Van 1 tunnel. In a multi-unit and multi-lingual technical environment, A2Z coordinated effectively among consultants, contractors, investors, and local authorities. The company provided transparent, timely, and grounded in solid technical evidence, enabling smooth project progress execution without disputes.
Thanks to this meticulous supervision process and attention to every detail, A2Z helped the project finish three months ahead of schedule while ensuring both quality and safety. In recognition of these contributions, the Minister of Transport and the Chairman of Thua Thien Hue Provincial People’s Committee awarded certificates of merit to the company and its key supervision personnel. This acknowledgment demonstrates A2Z’s professional capability, credibility, and responsibility in national-scale infrastructure projects.
The success of the Hai Van 2 tunnel further affirms A2Z’s position as a leading supervision consultant for large-scale transport projects, while also providing opportunities for deeper participation in future high-standard, technically demanding infrastructure projects.
