On April 29, 2025, A2Z Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company signed a cooperation agreement with the Guangzhou Metro Research and Design Institute (Guangzhou Metro Group – China) and Kunming Engineering Corporation Limited (Power China Group) for research on the Metro Line 2 Ben Thanh – Tham Luong project. This agreement marks a significant step in expanding international cooperation to participate in the development of domestic urban infrastructure.
Metro Line 2 plays a pivotal role in Ho Chi Minh City’s public transportation network, directly connecting Ben Thanh Central Station and integrating with other planned metro lines. The system will also provide transit connections to the bus network, contributing to alleviating traffic pressure on the frequently congested Cach Mang Thang Tam – Truong Chinh corridor.

The project is being prepared with international loans (ADB, KfW, EIB) and domestic counterpart capitals. Upon completion, Metro Line 2 is expected to encourage public transportation usage, improve air quality, enhance regional connectivity, and create a driving force for socio-economic development in Ho Chi Minh City.
With extensive experience in large-scale railway projects and advanced technological capabilities, A2Z has been selected as one of the key entities to participate in researching the Metro Line 2 project. The company has affirmed its reputation in the field of consulting and designing complex railway and transportation infrastructure projects such as Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong, Tan Ap – Mu Gia – Vung Ang, and particularly the North-South high-speed railway. In its implementation, A2Z pioneers the application of modern technologies like LiDAR and BIM, while also focusing on developing an elite team of engineers to meet the stringent requirements of metro projects involving intricate underground components and advanced technologies, more complex than the Line 1.
The Chinese partners participating in this cooperation are all leading entities in the design, construction, and supervision of large-scale infrastructure projects, with extensive experience in implementing hundreds of kilometers of urban railways.
The Guangzhou Metro Research and Design Institute (established in 1993, a subsidiary of Guangzhou Metro Group) is a pioneering organization in urban railway consulting, surveying, and design in China. It is the first urban railway design company to be listed on the A-share market and has led the design of over 500 km of metro lines, light rail, and intercity railways across more than 40 cities both domestically and internationally. The institute also holds thousands of patents and employs advanced technologies such as BIM and GIS.
PowerChina Kunming Engineering Co., Ltd. (established in 1950, headquartered in Kunming, Yunnan) is a subsidiary of Power Construction Corporation of China, one of the largest construction enterprises in China. The company specializes in the design and construction of renewable energy projects (wind, solar, and hydropower) and urban and transportation infrastructure. It holds a comprehensive Grade A technical design certificate and a Grade A EPC certificate in water conservancy, hydropower, and urban infrastructure. It integrates consulting, design, construction, and operation services with a strong focus on sustainable technology and construction efficiency.
The cooperation with these highly experienced and leading international partners enables A2Z to approach the Metro Line 2 project in a practical and in-depth manner, thereby enhancing its technical capabilities and accumulating valuable experience in implementing complex underground components. This partnership is also an important preparatory step for A2Z to expand its role in metro projects, in particular, and modern transportation infrastructure in general, in the future.
